Plagron Perlite 60 Liter

Plagron Perlite is used for an airier substrate and better drainage.

Perlite is baked volcanic rock that provides an airy substrate and improved drainage. Use Perlite to improve the structure of the soil. Perlite can be broadly used. It has a consistent quality, is germ-free and provides the ideal water/air ratio. Perlite stimulates root development and ensures strong growth.

Advantages of growing with perlite
Perlite is primarily used to make lighter soil mixtures. You just mix the desired amount of perlite in your soil mixture, make sure that you mix it very well. You should, however make sure you mix up to a maximum of 30% of perlite, this stuff is so light that if you use more it will will float at the first turn of water!
Perlite is also an excellent choice for wick type hydroponic systems. Its aerated nature gives it good wicking action. Perlite is a popular choice because it is inexpensive and readily available.

Disadvantage of growing with perlite
Perlite on itself does not retain water well and must be watered frequently. It is not a good idea for a garden that will be unattended for long periods of time.
