Canna Orchid Special 500 ML
CANNA Orchid special is a complete plant nutrient specially developed for the most known orchid species such as Phalaenopsis, Oncidium and Vanda. CANNA works exclusively with high-quality pure nutrients and chelates, which are directly and fully available to the plant.
What are the best known Orchid species?
Phalaenopsis orchids are the best-selling flowering houseplants in the Netherlands. In almost every house there are one or more of these orchids in the windowsill. With the CANNA Orchid Special you can keep the plant better and stimulate the plant to bloom again.
In addition to Phalaenopsis orchids, there are many varieties with their own growth and inflorescence, and corresponding nutritional needs. These more exotic species are mainly found among enthusiasts. Use CANNA Orchid Special for large healthy show plants full of flowers. Examples include Cymbidium, Dendrobium nobile and Vanda.
9 tips for growing orchids
- Place orchids in a bright spot, but avoid placement in direct sunlight.
- Feed a flowering pot orchid every week for extra long, lavish, colorful blooms. Immerse the orchid with a nutrient solution.
- In winter, most orchids are at rest. Feeding once a month is then sufficient. The plants still need a lot of light (not in full sun, but certainly not in the dark).
- If it is very hot and dry, the plants can be submerged once more with water. Tap water can be used for food, but the plants prefer rainwater. Too hard water contains a lot of lime, which can be harmful to the orchids.
- After a minimum of 15 minutes and a maximum of 4 hours of immersion, the excess water must be poured from the pot. Orchids are very resistant to water in the pot, the roots will rot very quickly (within a few days).
- Vandas are not in a pot and are therefore best hung in a damp room, such as the bathroom, as there is sufficient daylight. The roots can be moistened with a plant spray containing the nutrient solution.
- When an orchid has finished flowering, the flower stem must be cut away. With Dendrobium nobile, the old shoots have to be cut away and the new flower stems bloom. After cutting away, the plants can be moved to a slightly cooler area until the first new shoots and buds become visible. Do not set the plants too cold (5 degrees cooler than the living room is enough).
- The newly formed flower stems are best made only on the sticks if they have flower buds in them. Then there is the least chance of breakage.
- To give the roots enough space, the plants can be placed in a larger pot once a year, preferably in the spring. Orchids can only be placed in a special orchid substrate, which is a kind of bark.
